Dental Implant Insurance: Which plans cover it?
More dental plans are now covering dental implants, but it most still do not cover implants. The truth is that there are several different methods of replacing teeth and most dental plans will choose to cover the least expensive of the procedures.
It is widely known that bridges and dentures have been replaced by dental implants as the preferred treatment for missing teeth. Dental implants have a number of advantages over these traditional methods:
- Implant Supported Dentures preserve bone structure preventing that sunken in look of old age.
- An Implant Replacing a Single Tooth saves the surrounding teeth from the harm of attaching a bridge to them.
- Dental Implants look and feel like natural teeth.
Even though these benefits and more are well known the insurance companies, they have to protect their bottom dollar. So, don’t assume that dental implants are covered by your insurance. It is important to check before you pick and visit your implant dentist.

I’ve worked for 36 years. I raised my children on my own after their father returned from Vietnam a drug addict. I managed to put myself through a 2 year associate degree course to give my children a better life. One son died on my living room floor 9 years ago which precipitated me giving up everything. I couldn’t replace my career because of the economy, but I am working, possibly saving lives because I do gas line inspections for a crumbling infrastructure. I never had the money for good dental care for myself. I took care of my teeth but suffered from peridontal disease, maybe due to bad nutrition or heredity (I don’t know). One year ago I had my top teeth pulled after a series of infections. I’m totally miserable, & depressed because I can’t afford implants, & I’m trying to deal with a denture in my small mouth. America has exemplary health care available to the rich. I’m only middle class. Implants are not available to me!!! America is shameful to allow treatments only to the richest of individuals. Movie star have the most dazzling smiles because they are rich. My son had kidney failure which caused his health to deteriorate from a vibrant 23 year old to death at 28. I witnessed a hospital releasing him after just hours because he was on disability insurance. A rich person would have gotten the needed care. I am not proud of an America that puts wealth ahead of morals!!!

It’s a shame that we pay all this insurance and have to fight to get what we want from them
